ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION AND HEALTH HAZARDS

The growth of civilization, with the help of Science and technology, has made our life more happy, comfortable and secure. But it has been found in recent years that it has also caused the problem of pollution.Pollution has caused so many havoc not only for living beings but also for the life less. For example,Taj Mahal faces the changes of color change because of the smoke from nearby oil refinery.Water,Soil and air are polluted by men.

The pollution of water is caused by the discharge of chemical wastes from industries and factories.Disposing city sewage into the river and sea also pollutes water and soil. All the living things are dependant on water. If they consume polluted,it will cause various health problems. For example, the jaundice disease is due to the intake of impure water.

In India,as many as 50,000 people die due to the environmental pollution created by the factories and industries. The Government has not taken any action against this.We must act before it is too late.We should not allow the people to discharge waste into the river water. The drinking water should be free from pollutants. All the industries should be given licenses only after the installation of pollution control systems. All erring companies should be closed. All the automobile companies should be closed.Plastic bags and plastic papers should be banned from using it,instead jute and other allied products should be replaced. All the automobile vehicles should be fitted with pollution control mechanism.More centres should be opened to check air pollution by the vehicles. The government should enact strict laws to control pollution. The State and the Central governments have drawn various schemes. Now an awareness has been created among the people about the seriousness of the problem. In schools and colleges, the topic,"pollution" has been included in the syllabus.
